Over the past year, our network has successfully hosted two enriching workshops that brought together our Doctoral Candidates (DCs) to learn, collaborate, and grow.
🔬 July 2024 – ICFO, The Institute of Photonic Sciences – (Barcelona):
This workshop focused on fluorescence microscopy, advanced microscopy modalities and microfluidics, complemented by hands-on sessions in ICFO’s state-of-the-art labs. Participants also took part in a microfluidic demonstration and in a dedicated session on intellectual property (IP) protection, valorization, and exploitation, gaining insight into how scientific discoveries can transition from the lab to real-world applications.
🧠January 2025 – Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) – (Valencia):
This workshop focused on the full pipeline of data acquisition, processing, and management, with particular emphasis on deep learning applications. Sessions covered best practices for data acquisition, data protection, open-data principles, and metadata standards.
Participants engaged in in-depth discussions and hands-on training on data annotation, both manual and automated. The event culminated in a Hackathon on cellular segmentation using deep learning, encouraging creative problem-solving and teamwork.
Beyond the scientific content, both events offered a fantastic opportunity for our DCs to connect in person, share insights on their research, and explore potential collaborations within the network.
