Last week, the Nextscreen Doctoral Network held its third workshop at Universitätsmedizin Essen from July 8–11, bringing together our doctoral candidates, academic partners, and industry collaborators for four days of hands-on learning and exchange.
The workshop mainly focused on flow cytometry, with in-depth training sessions and demonstrations supported by experts from Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, BD, and Cytek Biosciences.
We also had the opportunity to explore:
🔬 Circulating tumor cells in a session led by Prof. Nikolas Stoecklein from Universitätsklinikum Düsseldorf
📚 Ethics in scientific research by our Network Coordinator Prof. Andrea Bassi
💶 European funding opportunities for academia and industry and Project management tools and strategies for research by Tommaso Foglia (STEM Innovation srl).
It was a fantastic opportunity for our DCs to reconnect in person, share insights, discuss upcoming secondments, and explore potential collaborations across institutions.
🙏 A big thank you to Prof. Bernd Giebel and Jeter Chien-Chun Huang for hosting and organizing such a well-structured and enriching event!
