We are a joint Doctoral Network (DN) supported by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) of Horizon Europe, focused on developing the next generation of imaging flow cytometry.
As a network of doctoral researchers from across Europe, we are working together to improve how cells and bioparticles are detected and analyzed — aiming to make diagnostic tools faster, more affordable, and easier to use in clinical settings.
💡 Our work brings together expertise in:
· Advanced optical microscopy
· Microfluidics and micromanipulation techniques
· Machine learning and data analysis
🧭 What we are working on:
· Building compact, affordable lab-on-chip devices
· Enhancing resolution and introducing new imaging techniques
· Training AI to classify cells without manual labelling
· Scaling up high-throughput screening for faster, more detailed analysis
🌍 NEXTSCREEN brings together leading universities, research institutes, and companies from across Europe — including:
Politecnico di Milano, Universitätsmedizin Essen, ICFO, CNR IFN, University of Crete, Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), University of Tübingen, ETH Zürich, Microfluidics Innovation Center, and Abbelight.
We are currently training 11 PhD researchers across a range of disciplines — and we are just getting started.
